New Multipower Cell Phone T Mobile SDA

T Mobile SDA gets very good reception, though voices were a bit harsher and less precise than we'd have liked, and there's a big background-noise transmission problem in noisy environments. MP3 ringtones sounded good, and the earpiece volume was acceptable if not very loud. The speakerphone was too quiet to use outdoors, though it works acceptably indoors. (That's odd because the media player can really blare, much louder than the speakerphone.) We actually got clearer sound through a Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth headset than we did through the phone's built-in earpiece.

Speaking of Bluetooth, we got Logitech, Jabra, and Plantronics headsets all working with the SDA, and we ActiveSynced with a Dell laptop. The voice dialing is the primitive, recorded-tag type, but using any voice dialing at all over Bluetooth is a step forwards for a Windows Mobile phone. You can also make a phone call, talk on a Bluetooth headset, and surf the Web with Wi-Fi all at the same time. The Bluetooth stack doesn't support playing music over wireless headsets.

T Mobile SDA is a small, slightly chubby, rounded candy-bar phone with a lot of small buttons. (This is not a phone for folks with big fingers.) The multibutton approach makes learning the SDA a bit of work and leads to occasional incorrect keypresses, but we appreciated every button on the phone, most importantly the dedicated music buttons. Above the buttons stretches a beautiful 320-by-240 VGA screen filled with bold icons and your calendar information.

The SDA Music phone lets T-Mobile customers enjoy an exclusive listening experience. The first Smart Phone with the Windows Mobile operating system not only allows access to Microsoft applications like Outlook, but also can be used to relax after work thanks to the integrated audio player. Other highlights of the device include an integrated VGA camera for taking photos and videos, an MP3 player and a stereo headset. The Motorola E398 is also optimally suited for mobile music services. Two integrated stereo speakers and special light and vibration effects provide an impressive 3D sound experience. Both cell phones support T-Mobile's Mobile Jukebox service.

T Mobile SDA is directed at users who prefer a cell phone for mobile communication, but also want to use functions like e-mail or a calendar. The SDA provides for these functions using the Microsoft operating system Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003. Windows Mobile lets you receive and send e-mail, as well as manage your appointments using the SDA. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files can be easily read in the device's large display. The MDA III and the SDA will soon be offered by T-Mobile also without a camera, to meet the requirements of the business market. Please purchase on online www.luckywirelessusa.com

Will Windows Phone 7 Have a Chance in This Competitive Smartphone Market?

Due to launch in the European and Asian markets this October and in the US this November, the Windows Phone 7 or WP7 is an entirely new mobile OS from Windows that has no heritage from the older unlamented Windows Mobile 6 series. It's hardware platform requirements are so stringent, no current Windows cellphone can be upgraded to it. In terms of functionality and user interface, the new Windows mobile OS promises to push the envelope further, something Windows could not do with the old Windows Mobile platform when it became clear it could not match what the emerging Android platform now leading the smartphone markets can offer.

Unveiled during the 2010 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last January, the Windows Phone 7 finally got released in September not on any consumer handsets but with its SDK development kit that invited 3rd party program developers to port apps to the forthcoming smartphone. Already, a long list of cellphone brands are readying their WP7 handsets led by long-time Microsoft partner HTC which has always been at the forefront of new Windows OS wizardry. In fact it already has five GSM models released in the European and Asian markets (HD7, 7Pro with its CDMA counterpart, 7 Surround, 7 Mozart and the Trophy). Rivals Samsung has the Omnia 7 and Focus while LG has the Quantum, Optimus 7 and 7Q models. Once it gets launched in American markets, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint along with AT&T and Vodafone are expected to carry the WP7 smartphones.

Features

The most identifying feature that distinguishes Windows Phone 7 smartphones is its user interface with a home screen that Microsoft calls the "Start screen" made up of tiles equivalent to icons. Turned on, its UI certainly doesn't look like any smartphone on the planet. Credit goes to Microsoft for not copying the look of the iPhone 4 which many competitors are emulating.

Multitasking is standard as well as multitouch technology with OLED screen support, something Microsoft could not do with the older WM6 OS. This, together with a dark UI, the OS promises to prolong battery life. This is evident with the new WP7 HTC models with the shortest 4 hours of talk time on the HTC 7 Surround powered by a 1230 mAh li-ion battery while the highest on the HD7 enjoys 6.3 hours on the same battery.

Initial Reception

The first beta releases may be underwhelming but as more tester feedback improved the first iterations, the launch models from Samsung and HTC released in Europe impressed many hard nosed critics to admit that they are quite fast and responsive. There are admittedly some features missing that you can readily find in Android and the iPhone but the common consensus is that what it has, it does well. One thing going against the new Windows Phone 7 is the relatively immature 3rd party apps with almost nothing to compete with against the Blackberry, Android and iPhone online application stores.

There is no doubt that the WP7 is a desperate attempt for Microsoft to remain relevant in the world of smartphones. It basically took the Redmond OS leader in PCs a good two years to come up with an answer to the Android when. This is at least a much more pragmatic response than what Nokia has with its Symbian failures.

Small Computer Mobile Phone - T Mobile Wing

T Mobile introduced latest design mobile phone T Mobile Wing. First, the good stuff. The Wing comes packed with an impressive arsenal of smart phone features, including Exchange ActiveSync and Direct Push support for corporate servers. Others include Bluetooth, the mobile versions of Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer, a microSD memory expansion slot (conveniently located on the left spine of the phone), a two megapixel camera, and a quad-band GSM radio for placing calls on worldwide networks. There's no built-in GPS navigation or 3G (T-Mobile has yet to roll out its own 3G network), but you can get high-speed data over the built-in Wi-Fi receiver nice for anyone with a wireless home or office network.

All well and good but unfortunately, my review unit of the T Mobile Wing was slow as molasses. Programs and menus screens often took a few seconds to refresh, and buttons took too long to respond; on some occasions, I kept pressing an on-screen button with the stylus thinking the phone had frozen, only to have menus pop up a few seconds later.

The T Mobile Wing is also one of the first smart phones in the U.S. to ship with Windows Mobile 6, the latest version of Microsoft's mobile OS (the slim T-Mobile Dash just got a Windows Mobile 6 update of its own). That means more editing options in the mobile editions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, tight integration with Windows Live messaging, and finally full support for HTML-formatted e-mail messages, which worked like a dream in my tests. Tapping out messages was a piece of cake thanks for the Wing's roomy, slide-out QWERTY keypad. The advances made in the new version of Windows Mobile can be best described as progressional and far from revolutionary. The system allows users to set up and receive email instantly from Windows Live Hotmail and also gives users are access to MSN Messenger.

Microsoft has also invested a significant amount of time upgrading their current security features to make the service more appealing to corporate users. Those who will purchase the T-Mobile Wing are also encouraged to use Vista, so that lost or stolen data can be retrieved by the user, and limit the reliance on an IT professional.
